This page is the WoWS Stats update log: a simple changelog and reference for everyone who uses wows-stats.com.

We built this site to search players and clans, view PR and ship stats, and browse leaderboards. Numbers on your profile can be hard to interpret, and the site changes over time. This blog exists so you always have a written explanation in one place — not buried in Discord messages or guesswork.

What this update log is for

  • Transparency — you can read how stats are calculated and what changed when we adjust something
  • Trust — if PR, colors, or a leaderboard look different after an update, we document why
  • Onboarding — new visitors can learn what the site offers and how to read their stats
  • History — older posts stay available so you can see when a rule or formula last changed

    • This is not a gameplay guide or news site for World of Warships itself. We only write about this stats site and the data behind it.

    What we will post here

    Expect short articles when something affects how you read or compare stats:

    Calculations and ratings

  • How Personal Rating (PR) works and what “average” means on this site
  • Ship PR vs account PR, and how recent-battle windows differ from lifetime stats
  • PR and win-rate color tiers (what purple, pink, cyan, green, yellow, orange, and red mean)
  • Changes to formulas, weights, floors, or expected values per ship

    • Leaderboards and rankings

  • Player, ship, clan, and clan wars leaderboards — minimum battles, who is included or excluded
  • Ship leaderboard size (for example top 100) and profile ship rank badges
  • How often ranks are rebuilt and what “indexed” means for appearing on a board

    • Data, indexing, and reliability

  • How player and clan data is fetched and refreshed
  • Known limits (hidden accounts, missing ships, delayed updates after a patch)
  • Maintenance windows, API issues, or fixes when search or profiles break

    • Site features and UI

  • New or updated pages (search, profiles, tools such as minimap render)
  • Navigation and quality-of-life changes worth knowing about

    • Corrections

  • When we fix a bug that changed displayed stats or ranks, we will say what was wrong and what is correct now

    • How to read and find posts

  • Open Blog in the header to see all posts, newest first
  • Use the search box to filter by keyword (for example PR, ships, clan wars, colors)
  • Open a post for the full explanation; tags under the title group related topics

    • What will not be posted here

  • Official Wargaming announcements or patch notes (we are an unofficial fan project)
  • Accusations, drama, or posts about individual players
  • Promises about features without a clear timeline — we post when something is live or clearly planned
